"Life can only be understood by looking backward, but it must be lived by looking forward."

I'm so ready for all of this to be over!!! I'm ready for the beginning of a new year.....new focus, new ideas, new projects, new places to go....I always love the feeling of starting fresh, even though it's only symbolic...so let's get on with it and make this the best year we've experienced in a while....in our personal and professional lives. Amen!

Each year brings more blessings to me and my family. Isn't it hard to forget our blessings sometimes until an unfortunate sadness comes in for a visit. I thank the Lord every morning when I get up, that I could get up. There are so many people less fortunate than me.

I have no idea how this will translate in practicality. I have already been making some changes. I totally changed my life at the end of December. I don’t know what’s in store. I just know I’m going to listen to my HIGHER SELF, keep laughing, and keep being willing to do things outside my comfort zone, that's gonna be my new year resolution...!

Let's embrace the NEW YEAR with a SMILE...!!! :)

Hello Blog...Time to catch up!!

Well, it's been a while my friends......writing has gone by the wayside, and in it's place have been multiple real life distractions. What little writing I've done lately has been confined to a few fast comments, and postings on my Facebook.

Well...i think writing about WORKING life wont be that interesting, so I'm making an attempt to write about the latest rants and raves! Stay Tuned...

Life- A Tug of War

Life can seem ungrateful and not always kind.
Life can pull at your heartstrings and play with your mind.

Life can be blissful and happy and free.
Life can put beauty in the things that you see.

Life can place challenges right at your feet.
Life can make good of the hardships we meet.

Life can overwhelm you and make your head spin.
Life can reward those determined to win.

Life can be hurtful and not always fair.
Life can surround you with people who care.

Life clearly does offer its ups and its downs.
Life's days can bring you both smiles and frowns.

Life teaches us to take the good with the bad.
Life is a mixture of happy and sad.

SO...

Take the life that you have and give it your best.
Think positive be happy let God do the rest.

Take the challenges that life has laid at your feet.
Take pride and be thankful for each one you meet.

To yourself give forgiveness if you stumble and fall.
Take each day that is dealt you and give it your all.

Take the love that you're given and return it with care.
Have faith that when needed it will always be there.

Take time to find the beauty in the things that you see.
Take life's simple pleasures let them set your heart free.

The idea here is simply to even the score.
As you are met and faced with Life's Tug of War.

Mere Do Anmol Ratan!!

Akanksha- My first friend during my pg. Well, I guess we were destined to be friends since always. I admit that Akanksha’s first impression was that she’s very pretty and she is, so I guessed that she might be snobbish or proudy. But that wasn’t the case; she turned out be the most innocent, down to earth, grounded soul I have ever encountered. She has an amazing observation, I trust her judgements more than anyone, and they are always true. Out of 24 hrs we used to spend almost 14 hrs together, starting from 8 am in the morning; in cab and then college and after that on phone or internet. We both are docile and placid and empathetic kind of people. A beautiful girl with an equally beautiful heart, that’s Akanksha for you.

Ruchika- Ruchika, popularly known as ruchi or thapa is pretty pragmatic and independent sorta girl. Probably because as she has studied in boardings/away from home all her life. Totally opposite of me; guess I was pampered and dependent way too much. Ruchi has a fun loving and a flamboyant personality. An amazingly good sense of humor, and she’s quite forgetful at times but that’s even funnier. The attribute I most admire about her is that she lives life on her terms! A carefree, laid back, thoughtless yet mature and independent girl, that’s Ruchika for you.

Well, until now you had a sneek peak in my student life (starting from school, graduation, post graduation). Now, its time for some serious write-ups about me as a person, my opinion, my dreams, my passion, my experiences and my life.

STAY TUNED...!!

“When it comes to success in business, an MBA degree is optional. But a GWD, which is only earned by Getting work Done, is required.”

I realized the above stated fact pretty soon during my MBA days. In a batch of around 1000 students; around 90 students in my very section; the place was like a circus where every joker was craving for attention. We were very frequently given presentations, assignments, projects to make and we always had to work in groups (ofcourse not of our choice) which was like atleast 10 people in one group. And as usual and expected out of every group of 10, two people used to work and other were free riders. The situation is quite similar in workplaces as well, so no complains; after few tussles, frustrated days (Aakanksha & Ruchika are the witnesses), I considered this as an exercise, as a dress rehearsal for worst days ahead.

Like in every college, people start to complain and crib about things and the institution soon. But the atmosphere was actually different from my previous college days; I soon realized that each and every student’s aim is to get a JOB, and to achieve this instead of cooperation, there was COMPETETION. Me, as always clueless about my journey ahead; was just going with the flow. Surrounded by so many people can really be a mess; the only benefit of working and studying and chatting and hanging and eating with all, was to get to know all sorts of people. And among them, we always find some people easy to gell with; our kinda people! For me, they were Aakanksha & Ruchika.

We were doing our Mba’s in international business. There are very cute little things which I can never forget, like my 21st birthday and the surprises I got; when just after attendance we used to run away from seminar/auditorium classes, the way we used to escape one by one when faculty used to come to collect money or for any announcements about meets/summits (especially Aakanksha), our planning to get out during the events- we were extremely creative and tactful at the situations we were forced to so something. (a sign of a good manager I think).

Sometimes, I used to feel that another different thing about this place was:

“Diamonds were dimmed and stones were polished.” (referring to students here)

Very difficult to understand and relate; (I don’t want to get into details), but I had this feeling in back of my mind. To answer this,Aakanksha always used to say-“Jo dikhta hai wo bikta hain”, and I learned my first lesson of management.

M.B.A= Member of Berozgaar Association!!

The last 2 years of my student life!!

MBA was really like a roller coaster ride. I felt as if I am back in school, faculty teaching and preaching about discipline all over again. The first three days of my MBA were really incredible, the introductory sessions and ice breaking sessions-cant forget them ever. If Akanksha Gupta would read this, she would understand as she was with me throughout these days. Oh man, we both thought that either people surrounding us are bunch of wierdos or we were from different planet. After a lot of silly and stupids incidents, we were a group of 3. The coolest number for friends (remember dil chahta hain, 3 idiots), just kidding. Ruchika (popular as Thapa) was as confused and charming as we were, its really very unique combination to find-ha! Anyways, detailed description of my two anmol ratans will be featured in the next post.

We were instructed that we were not in college anymore, its was school, a B- School. So we had to follow all the discipline like coming on time, wearing formals etc. Reaching at 9am was really a challenge for all of us to beat in the initial days, i remember the long ques outside every class; Hiding and running away from faculties when we used to wear jeans/informals; These are very cute memories which one can never erase from our minds.

And how can i forget the most important thing- ATTENDANCE...!!!
It was our lifeline, our only concerns, our lifesaver. I remember OD's forms and proxy's. We used to count on them, these things were so important part of our day to day life, still cant believe how crazy, how insane we all were.

Stay Tuned for more!! :)

I MISS MY COLLEGE DAYS!!

Free from the fetters of school,
I willingly jumped into the knowledge pool,
Where education was mixed with entertainment,
At college learning was never a punishment!!

Those were the best days of my life,
When fun and frolic was rife,
A refreshing realm of knowledge,
That was my college!!

Funny friends and bunking lectures,
Silly pranks, Riddles and rumors,
Gossips and giggles umpteen,
We always hogged at the canteen!!

Remembering my classmates, after few years,
My eyes were filled with tears,
Everyone now is busy a lot,
No one escaped destiny’s plot!!

AWESOME THREESOME...!!

AMANDEEP

Amandeep is pretty much unpredictable. She is apparently a silent dominator-ha! But jokes apart, she is extremely homely and simple yet quite tomboyish. We used to go to college together daily. Needless to mention, we have travelled to college in all the modes of transport- be it a- bus, auto, car, rickshaw, or anything- We were quite adventurous. I can’t quantify how many hours we have stayed together on road, chatting and babbling about nothing, those days were so much fun. A Hardworking and determined girl, that’s Amandeep for you!

DISHA

Disha is for sure- One of a Kind. Her first impression was- She is very blunt. And I really adore people who speak out their mind, they definitely have clean hearts! I remember how conveniently she used to enter into an argument or tussle, but she always used to raise her voice for the right thing. She can’t stand diplomacy, pretence and double standards, and so do I. She is really independent and responsible. I can count on her always, and obviously a friend in need is a friend indeed. An Outspoken & Bindaas girl, that’s Disha for you!

NEHA

Neha and I are pretty much similar. We have a lot of things in common. I am very selective about the company I keep, so mostly I take time to open up as I want time to think over about the person. But with Neha, it was exactly about the opposite. The moment we met, we were friends. We just clicked as we always have similar opinions and likings. Its always nice to have people in your life, you know you better than you!! An Easygoing & Girl Next door, that’s Neha for you!

PS:Feel free to write about me and our college memories!

Economists report that a college education adds many thousands of rupees to a person's lifetime income!! ;D

I’m a Bachelor in Business Economics. No, that’s not BBA or Eco (H) as everybody considers it- grrr!! Its BBE, a professional course offered by Delhi University, for which one has to clear a tough entrance test. Anyways, that doesn’t even matter now, but its pretty annoying when people haven’t heard about the course and call it BBA instead.

My graduation was quite a learning experience! No, I m not talking about studies and learning chapters, I am talking about real life experiences. We were around 30 people pursuing this course; about 15 girls and 15 boys.

I thought finding new bunch of friends would be difficult but it wasn’t. I met a girl (Amandeep) who I already knew. I met her at coaching classes for entrance exams, she lived nearby & we clicked easily. I met another girl (Neha) I already met during counseling sessions before joining college. We both were hell confused (We always are, don’t know why) and very apprehensive about this relatively new course and its scope. But together we decided to go for it- I still doubt why-Just Kidding!

So, On the first day of college, I already had 2 good friends. Apparently, they were new but never seemed so, It was like we were always together and have known each other for years.

We used to spend a lot of time outside the college, on our way back. Rather sitting in the college as we hated the infrastructure then-ha! Needless to mention, but that was one thing we used to criticize a lot during our college days.

Another girl of my class (Disha), I don’t remember our first interaction. As she was little different from all of us, she was always “on Phone” for one reason or the other, so nobody got a chance to interact with her initially.

But sooner or later, we all were friends- A perfect group of 4.

C.O.L.L.E.G.E = Come On Lets Live Each Graduation day Equally!!

"There will come a time when you believe everything is finished.
That will be the beginning."
Louis L'Amour

I thought 12 years of schooling was enough for lessons and studies, it was an end to all that. But soon after in college I realized that the real journey has just began!!

I learned three important things in college-
To be tactful, To memorize quickly & visually and vomit that in exams, and To drop asleep at any time given a horizontal surface and ten minutes-ha!

I did my graduation in ECONOMICS.

I clearly remember the first lesson of Economics:
“SCARCITY!!! There is never enough of anything to satisfy all those who want it.”
Its funny how my First lesson of Life was just the opposite- to disregard the first lesson of economics!! We are always told to grab everything, who cares about others…

Anyways, college was fascinating! I can never forget my first day of college- ha! I encountered the most bizarre things happening around everywhere-RAGGING!! We all were victims of the same. But honestly it was fun, dancing, singing, hindi introductions, we all became friends easily and quickly after that.

Hello Blog!!

It’s been a while but I’ve been kind of busy. I’ll try to visit a little more often after today.

Blogs are interesting things, you know!! They allow glimpses into lives we'll never live, into insights we might never have, into experiences we'll never fully share.

I love this mainly because it reassures me that I'm not the only one wandering around pushing on the "pull" doors all alone.

~ School is where you go between when your parents can't take you and industry can't take you. ~ John Hoyer Updike

To sum up all-

Everything is fresh in our mind,
We wish we could rewind,
Let’s enjoy, laugh and rejoice,
Once again become kids guys.

We all were in elation,
Till the farewell of separation,
And when it was time to part.
We returned with a heavy heart.

Today life is full of commitments,
And too many worries,
But with our cherished moments,
Will stay forever in our memories...!!! :)

Miss you all...

TID BIDS OF ME, MY SCHOOL, MY FRIENDS

When in School, I used to hate the boring white uniforms, morning assemblies, home work and the silly discipline we were forced to follow. Obviously, I was clueless that I will miss all these things later. I’ve always believed that – “Rules are meant to be broken”, and we all were messing up with it big time. Still, we ended up with good grades and admissions in good colleges.

We (me and my gang of girls) used to go to school on foot. Our School is at a stone’s throw from our places, This was both best and worst part. Best because we didn’t had to get up so early, it was so near. Worst because we had untold constant supervision of our families, we obviously couldn’t escape and bunk in nearby places. Sitting together, Eating together, Playing together, Coming from school together, Studying together ( I’m not so sure- ha!), bunk together, Going tutions together, And doing almost everything and anything together, we were so religiously following this schedule, we thought we were just having fun, but we were making amazing memories Together, which we will cherish forever!!

YEAH WE'RE TIGHT, YEAH WE FIGHT, BUT THROUGH ALL OF IT, THERE'S ONE THING WHICH WILL NEVER CHANGE, WE'LL BE FRIENDS FOREVER!!!

AKANSHA-
Me and Akansha are friends since when we used to study in the junior classes (nursery onwards i think). Its been years, our friendship is like wine getting better with every passing year. We have many things in similar, we are sleepaholics and chocoholics, we forget and forgive easily, highly dependant on our elder sisters and are mostly neutral on things- Team Switzerland. We share a common back lane, we used to skip and share secrets there when we were in school, our best memory ever. Akansha topped school in 12th boards, A perfect combination of beauty and brains, that’s Akansha for you!!

GARIMA- Garima is a lively and a jovial person. When she talk, everybody listens!! (as nobody gets chance to speak-ha!). She joined our school when we were studying in the middle department (6th I guess), she soon was a part of our group as she was as insane as we all were-ha!. Me and garima were benchpartners in school, I owe her a lot for bearing with me and vice-versa. She is happy-go-lucky, she likes almost everything but she hates chocolates ( I still wonder why). And while sitting with me ( a chocoholic) she really used to have nightmares! I still remember how once she fainted during the Accountancy paper (I've always believed that she was acting- she is a good actor by the way) and how we broke a bench, and the whole class had to sit on the floor for a week. A chatter box, mischievous yet innocent in her own ways, that’s Garima for you!!

SONAL- Sonal was my first friend when I joined school as far as I can remember. The best thing about her, she speaks her mind. Me, Akansha and sonal used to go cycling every evening during school, suely we were so cool and carefree then, pretty laid back with no hangups. Now, me and sonal live in the same lane. The best neighbour I could ever ask for. She unlike us, is pretty creatively inclined. She has had her training in jewellery, fashion desingning, arts etc, a jack of all trades basically. A bindaas, straightforward girl with no strings attached, that’s Sonal for you!!

REEMA- Reema is an easygoing and fun loving person. She was known for solving problems of everyone in the school, she also played the role of matchmaker for some-ha!. It was pretty easy to talk with her on any and every topic, and we anyways had loads to babble about. She was quite approachable among all of us and was lil tomboyish in her own ways. In school, She once burnt crackers in girls restroom during diwali & broke windows-ha!. Me and Reema clicked as we mostly had similar opinions/takes on things around somehow. Its funny how she always used to make ghumne ke plans and we all used to get crazy about them and at the same times she was the most homely girl ever, pretty interesting-ha!. A flamboyant and people’s person, that’s Reema for you!!

PS: Feel free to write about me like this!! I deserve an introduction too…. And who better than you guys can tell about me and our wonderful memories.

Education is what remains after one has forgotten what one has learned in school. ~Albert Einstein

I still clearly remember, how exciting were the days of school -

I was growing up, rising up, moving forward,

I was so calm, carefree, and clueless.

I was riding the waves as they came,

I learnt that life is an unfloding, a learning process &

The goal is union with truth.

Needless to say, those were the best days of my life,
And like every one, even I had my cool gang of friends.

My Gang of Girls:
Akansha, Garima, Reema, Sonal (in Alphabetical order, no preferences)

I feel proud to say that some of us became friends at the time when we didn’t even knew how to spell “FRIENDSHIP”, some came lil later, But the kind of bond we have is so pure, so unconditional…like we were always meant to be friends rather sisters. And our bond is still strong and going, we have lived bful memories together.

Hope I have described these memories well below:

“wo Birthday Bashes, wo Dance Party,
wo get togethers, wo chit-chat naughty,

wo sabka garima se pange lena,
wo sonal ka sab kuch bindaas bolna,

wo reema ka hamesha plan banana,
wo akansha ka hamesha hastey rehna,

wo garima ki endless baatein,
wo sonal and main hamesha late aatein,

wo hum sabka akansha ke ghar par milna,
wo waha se har jagah ghumne jaana!! "
